5 Elements Of Feng Shui
There are 5 elements in Feng Shui namely - Metal, Wood, Water, Fire and Earth. The basic principles of Feng Shui is anchored on these five elements of earth. A Good Feng Shui means having a balance of these five elements.
Metal
Electronic devices are classified under the metal category. Electronics not only brings us the technological advances of this century, but also the toughness of the metal elements of Feng Shui. Make sure that the metal element is not colliding with the fire element and this may even hold a practical significance because you would not want any of your electronic devices to catch fire!
Wood
Wood is abundant in many areas and most evidently present in our furnitures. And just by cultivating a garden in your home, you will be able to bring in a lot of wood that can help you balance the different elements.
Water
Our homes are getting filled up with electronics fast and while a gadget junkie may like that, it is not appealing at all to the Feng Shui enthusiasts. Water is the element that balances metal. Ensure that the water complements your metal. A zen fountain in the midst of a sea of gadgets may just look appealing in your home.
Fire
Candles and the fireplace are good examples of the fire element in Feng Shui. It may seem strange to place the fountain next to the fireplace as it contradicts the purpose. But, many movies had background sets with a fireplace and wooden furniture that projects an ideal atmosphere for a night of romance. Too much fire can actually drown the environment, so be very careful when lighting your environment. In business settings, it is recommended to tame down the effects of fire in the office. But it can be unleashed more in a personal setting, especially in romantic ones.
Earth
Earth generally comprise of ceramics and rocks. A good dose of rocks and ceramics strategically placed in harmony with the other elements can make your home a happy one. Lacking in the element of earth may fill your life with instability. Earth is generally known for it’s resilience characteristics.
In an ideal system, water produces wood, wood yields fire, and fire fashions the earth. Then, the earth forms the metal and the metal consequently produces the water. When these five elements complement each other in the life cycle and the environment foster a positive nature that balances the five elements of earth, then good luck and prosperity is assured.
